Give those kids a chance. Wouldn't you rather them be in here than elsewhere causing harm to themselves and others? Most of them come from homes that are broken or with intolerant or overly strict parents. Yes of course responsibility for the situation in which they find themselves today ultimately devolves upon themselves, but they're not trash. Shouldn't it be the manifesto of a public library to serve even this element of society: the homeless, the drug-abusing, the mentally unbalanced? As long as they do no ill while they are there. Set aside a place for them to rest; yes, to sleep. Don't search them out by their age, their body ornamentation, their backpacks. They're like abandoned dogs. You have to keep giving them love. It may not take, but it will make you feel better. And surely you don't want to deny them, indefinitely, one of the only places they can feel safe. Who knows, one of them might pick up a book.
Staff just a great place for kids and adults.
Use to be an encouraging place of knowledge. Now I guess it's " weird" to Hold too many books. Great children's program, not so much if you're running late to story time carrying your Taco Bell and asked to eat outside in an unnecessary, degrading tone...What I should have said was, " Here's some Taco Bell, now you go outside and eat it then come back in with a better attitude"...and be careful to not damage a book. They will grill you if the book is from Aspen to the point that you buy a new copy with a signature of the author and still complain for having to process it. The library is just down the street, I'm sad about the hostility there that I can't go back. But I guess it's kinda ok because I keep going back for more. Just don't want to go back for a year till things calm down around there. It's coming off too much as a police state instead of a place of liberation... and I'm sure there's a lot of homeless people there trying to educate themselves enough to go back to work.
The people at this library are very rude and racist. Watch this comment because it will be edited out google doesn't respect peoples rights iv noticed and thats a pity because everything is done on google nowadays, i spent the whole of yesterday trying to reset the password of one of my accounts. Erin the front desk representative was saying to somebody that "we will send you to prison and every night you will be raped" imagine in a government building, I was affected because I thought she might be talking to me. The security guard was saying we will send you back to the reservation. I dont bother confronting people nowadays because i guess this kind of talk is the norm here Denver and these kinds of people are protected. Lots of nice friendly people in Denver but some people are just plain nasty.
I've been coming here got years its awesome staff is fantastic and helpful
The librarians are the nicest most helpful
